Candidates: More negotiation needed on Greenwich Plaza deal
GREENWICH — Among the many items that will quickly cross the desk of the new person sitting in the first selectman’s chair come December is the $45 million proposal to redevelop Greenwich Plaza.
First Selectman Peter Tesei’s administration has negotiated a deal with Ashforth Co., the developers of the project, that includes the controversial transfer of town-owned air rights to the company. It will be up to Tesei’s successor, either Republican Fred Camillo or Democrat Jill Oberlander, to move the project forward.
Both have said they would seek to renegotiate.
